CSU Fullerton, looking for self storage at the home of the Titans

California State University, Fullerton (CSUF, CSU Fullerton, or Cal State Fullerton) was founded in 1957 as Orange County State College. The name was changed to California State College in 1962 and to its present name in 1972. It is considered to be a public comprehensive university and is located in Fullerton, CA.

Cal State Fullerton participates in the NCAA Division I Big West Conference. They have 13 national championships in eight different sports, including Women’s Basketball (1970), Men’s Gymnastics (1971, 1972, 1974), cross country (1971), Women’s Fencing (1973), Men’s Bowling (1989), Women’s gymnastics (1979), Baseball (1979, 1984, 1995, 2004), and Softball (1986). The Dance Team also holds multiple titles from United Spirit Leaders.

Cal State Fullerton alumni include an astronaut who has made two trips to space (Tracy Caldwell Dyson); politicians (including Mike Cherry) and Academy Award-winning directors, actors, producers and cinematographers; award-winning journalists, authors and screenwriters; nationally recognized teachers; presidents and CEOs of leading corporations; international opera stars, musicians and Broadway stars; and professional athletes, Olympians, doctors, scientists, researchers and social activists.

An interesting item going on at the University is with Psychology lecturer, Kayla Causey. This month she will be taking four Cal State Fullerton students out on the ocean, monitoring and collecting data on bottle-nose dolphins as they cruise Orange County’s harbors and beaches. Causey and her students will depart Newport Harbor the tomorrow morning, and the mornings of June 21, 24 and 28 on a 14-foot Achilles inflatable craft and spend about eight hours each day cruising the county’s coastline, tracking dolphin activity and behavior. Causey said that she and her students will examine how different behaviors, such as spending time and feeding in the harbors, affect the dolphins’ reproduction and survival. The research is part of Causey’s Coastal Dolphins of Orange County Project.
