Staying organized is tough. But, throw in the whirlwind of a new school year, and keeping things in order is suddenly an uphill battle. With the chaos of school, lessons, a social life, and extracurricular activities, staying organized and on top of things can seem next to impossible!
Luckily, there are a few simple strategies you can implement in order to be a master of organization this school year. Curious about how you can take some of the stress out of your crazy schedule and bring some order to the mayhem? Keep reading!
1. Implement a Routine
A regular routine is crucial, especially when you have numerous activities and commitments to balance. So, make an effort to enforce a regimen early on. Go to bed at the same time every night. Set aside regularly scheduled time for school work. Avoid hitting snooze and pull yourself out of bed at the same time every morning. It may seem a little rigid at first, but having a predictable routine will really help you stay on top of your schedule!
2. Plan Ahead
As with anything, careful planning is crucial for staying organized. So, do everything you can to plan ahead and avoid scrambling at the last minute. Pack up your backpack and set out your clothes the night before, so you aren’t rushing around in the morning. Don’t allow deadlines to creep up on you and ensure you’re working on larger assignments in advance.Taking that frazzled, hectic panic out of your daily schedule will help you feel way more on top of things!
3. Use a Calendar
A great calendar is the be-all and end-all of daily organization. And, it’s especially important during the craziness of the school year. So, put your planner to good use! Mark down important deadlines, events, tests, and meetings. Pencil in all of the little things you need to remember, such as random notes or chores. This will allow you to look at your week — and even your month or semester — in advance. This way, no surprises sneak up and throw you for a loop!
4. Create a Command Center
Losing things is always frustrating. But, when you’re in a rush to get out the door and can’t seem to locate your backpack or calculator, it’s particularly infuriating. So, set up a designated space — or “command center” — for all of your school related items. This is where you’ll dump your backpack, important paperwork, and any other relevant supplies when you get home. That way, you always know right where to find it in the morning!
Whether you’re the parent of an elementary school student or you’re heading off to college yourself, staying organized throughout the school year can definitely be a challenge. Put some of these strategies to work to help you feel focused and on top of things. With this much organization, this is sure to be the best school year yet!
