Florida International University (FIU) is an American public research university in Miami, Florida and was founded in 1965. It is the largest university in South Florida. The campus is lush and heavily vegetated, and there are additional campuses in Asia and Europe.
The blue and gold FIU Panthers have 17 varsity sports teams and compete in the NCAA Division 1 as part of the Sun Belt Conference. FIU holds many Golden Panther spirit events, which include a camp held the summer prior to the beginning of the Fall term for incoming freshmen. The freshmen learn Panther cheers and chants, and have a chance to meet other incoming students.
Three notable alumni who attended FIU were former NBA journeyman Carlos Arroyo, actor Andy Garcia, and 2007 World Series MVP Mike Lowell. In addition to following in the footsteps of this great trio, you also find that the campus offers you an array of entertainment and culinary options, including Papa John’s, the Bistro by the Bay, Einstein’s, Subway, Sushi Maki, and Miro’s.
As an international university having a wide range of opportunities both in the city and abroad, students often find themselves looking for affordable and convenient self storage. There are plenty of self storage units available close to FIU. Students can find gated self storage facilities that offer 24 hour access and that provide direct drive up to the storage units near 33199. A typical 5’x5′ self storage unit can usually be found in the range of $60 to $75. This size unit will hold the contents of a typical dorm room. Another good option is to rent a bigger storage unit and share the costs with a friend.
