Cleaning Hacks

Who doesn’t love finding an easier way to do things? If there’s a faster, simpler or better way to get something done, we’re totally jumping on that bandwagon. Luckily, when it comes to mundane household tasks like cleaning, there are plenty of small tricks you can use to simplify and improve the entire process. If you’re hunting for a few tricks to make those cleaning days a little more bearable, look no further! We’ve rounded up five great cleaning hacks that you should know (and use!).

1. Lint Roller Dusting

It’s no secret that your soft surfaces can be magnets for dust, lint and other mystery items that manage to attach themselves to your fabrics. While it’s great to frequently vacuum, wash or deep clean these things, you don’t always have the time or desire to commit yourself to doing it regularly. So, grab a lint roller to quickly remove dust from items like lamp shades, decorative pillows, throw blankets, curtains and even couch cushions! They’ll look spotless and welcoming, with very little effort!

2. Canned Air for Bathroom Fans

You want to keep your bathroom exhaust fans looking clean, but popping off the casing and giving it a good scrub can be a bit of a pain. If you’re in need of a quick fix, blast your fans with some canned air, which you can find at any office supply store. This trick also works great for dusting out your air registers and quickly cleaning off your window blinds! Just be prepared to wipe up any dust that falls to the floor.

3. Dryer Sheets for Food Residue

We all know how annoying it is to scrub endlessly at hardened food that’s stuck to our baking dishes. Rather than putting in all of that elbow grease, let the pan soak with a biodegradable, non-toxic dryer sheet. The dryer sheet magically lifts all of the stains, and the remaining food particles should simply rinse away with water. We can’t explain the science behind how this works, but we certainly aren’t complaining!

4. Pet Hair Squeegee

Talk to any pet owner, and they’ll undoubtedly tell you about their endless battle with pet hair. It seems it only takes a minute after cleaning for your entire home to be immediately coated in a layer of hair once again. If you simply can’t stomach the thought of turning on the vacuum one more time, take a rubber squeegee to your carpeting. The grippy rubber will quickly grab all of the pet hair out of your carpet, and your carpets will look good as new! At least for a minute…

5. Pillow Case Trick

The blades of your ceiling fan can get insanely dusty. But, most of us tend to forget about them. That is, until we turn the fan on and dust starts falling around the room like confetti. Get on a ladder and hook a pillow case over one fan blade. Slowly pull it back towards you while wiping the blade. The pillow case will trap all of the dust inside, so you can easily avoid covering your entire room with a layer of dust, as well as prevent the sneezing fit that would inevitably follow.

There’s no doubt about it, cleaning can be a pain at times. But, these tips should help you make it at least a little easier on yourself!
