Organized Habits

We all know those people that appear to have every aspect of their life totally in order. No matter the occasion, their house looks spotless and put together. They’re on top of their finances. They have the perfectly organized planner. If you’ve ever wondered how they manage to maintain perfect order, while still dealing with day-to-day life, look no further! We’ve rounded up a few key habits of super organized people to help get you on the right track!

1. Make the Bed Every Morning

This may seem like a very small thing, but making the bed every morning actually makes a big difference. For starters, it immediately cleans up the appearance of your bedroom. Secondly, it sets the tone for maintaining organization throughout your day. So, make sure that you leave yourself enough time to make your bed in the morning. Instead of leaving your room in disarray because you’re frazzled and in a hurry, you’ll walk out the door feeling focused and ready to take on the day!

2. Finish Projects

Nothing can make your house a big mess faster than starting a bunch of projects and never completing them. Whether you started cleaning out your pantry and never quite finished, or began taking the wallpaper down in your master bedroom and just still haven’t gotten it done, make sure to finish every project you start. Not only will this contribute to your feeling of order and accomplishment, it will also keep you from having different loose parts and random odds and ends laying around.

3. Write Things Down

When you’re busy, you have a ton of things running through your mind at any given time. So, it’s easy to forget things that you need to do or buy. Keep a running shopping list and to-do list in a convenient location, or even on your phone, so that you can always easily jot down the things that you need to remember. You’ll never miss an important task or reminder, and you’ll be sure to pick up everything you need the next time you’re at the store!

4. Develop a Cleaning Schedule

Doing one major cleaning day every now and then works for some people. But, what about those people whose homes always look like they’re straight out of a magazine? Chances are, they’ve worked out a cleaning routine that works perfectly from them. Sit down and write down all of the cleaning tasks that need to be accomplished around your home. Then, divide them amongst the days of the week in a way that works for you. Perhaps you’ll do a load of laundry and clean your bathrooms on Tuesday, and then do the dishes and wipe down the kitchen on Wednesday. Staying on a consistent schedule will ensure that your house always looks presentable. Plus, cleaning will be much less overwhelming!

5. Be Proactive

We’ve mentioned it before. But, being proactive is one of the biggest pieces of the puzzle when it comes to maintaining organization. That shopping bag you just unloaded from the car? Unpack its contents right away, rather than letting it sit for days. That pile of mail you just carried in? Sort through it all immediately, to avoid collecting a giant stack of paper clutter. Being proactive will help significantly when it comes to staying organized on a daily basis.

Life gets busy, and you may not always have time to make sure that everything is in tip-top shape. But, these tips will help you pull some more order into your daily life!
