It’s hard to believe that a university founded in 1884 by a Baptist minister who began tutoring working class citizens late at night in the church basement is now one of the “most connected” campuses in the country. Yet Temple University, which is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has grown to be the 26th largest university in the United States with more than 38,000 students. Offering over 300 degree programs Temple is one of the country’s largest providers of professional education (medicine, law, podiatry, pharmacy, dentistry and architecture). Additionally, they are known for their programs in art, business, communications, education, engineering, music, science, and the health professions.
Temple was named the fourth-most “connected campus” in 2004 by the Princeton Review and has maintained Top 25 status for three years in a row. They opened up the TECH Center in 2006 which is the largest of its kind in the country providing students with the most state-of-the-art technology. 85% of Temple’s campus has wireless capability which allows students and professors to exchange classroom information online.
Temple’s mascot is the Owls, which was stemmed from students being referred to as “night owls” since Temple started as a night school. When you think of NCAA Basketball programs, Temple probably isn’t one that crosses your radar, but did you know they rank 6th in All-Time NCAA wins with 1790 at the beginning of the 2012-13 season, behind only Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Duke, and Syracuse? It is said that Temple won the first ever National Collegiate basketball championship in 1938. The NCAA tournament didn’t begin until 1939 so the Owls inaugural NIT National Championship against Colorado awarded them the first national college basketball title.
In addition to Temple’s main campus and their domestic auxiliary campuses, they have international campuses in Tokyo, Rome, Singapore, London and Spain. Temple University Japan is the largest and oldest foreign university in Japan. All of their international campuses offer semester, summer or year long programs making it necessary for students to find convenient self storage facilities close to Temple. Being located in a large metropolitan area there are plenty of storage companies to choose from to best fit your storage needs. A 5’x5′ storage unit usually fits all of the basic dorm room essentials and start as low as $25/month. Many storage unit facilities close to 19122 are offering different 50% off deals right now whether it’s the first month or first two months. The big decision will be choosing which amenities are necessary whether it be drive-up access, alarmed security, climate control or a roll-up or slide open door.
